Join us on an 8-day adventure to the beautiful Island of Gods and embark on a personal journey of self-discovery with Somatic IFS, Focusing, Somatic Experiencing, Breathwork, and more. Guided by Fran Booth LICSW, a Certified IFS therapist.
7 Reasons to join this journey
Bali's stunning beauty will fill you with awe and inspiration. It will leave you wanting more. You will have a chance to experience the Balinese culture, the openhearted people and their rich spiritual life as you are Immersed in their extraordinarily beautiful natural world.
This retreat is a unique combination of guided experiential processes (morning and evening circles), somatic embodiment practices (movement, dance, breathwork, Qi-gong, Balinese massage), and local excursions (rice terraces, temples, restaurants and more). You will be able to design an experience just right for you.
Villa Gaia is a fabulous retreat centre set among rice paddies; during our time the centre will be dedicated exclusively to our group. Accommodations include double and triple bedrooms (one quad) with air conditioning, plus a spacious, open-air workshop area with comfortable sofas and a view of palm trees and rice terraces. Last but not least, the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna are available 24 hours a day.
The small group of 16 people provides the opportunity to create a field of Self-energy among us that is both personal and grounded in the Larger Self of our circle. Circles and layers of Self-energy will support you and us.
The retreat will be led by level 3 trained, certified IFS therapist and consultant, Fran Booth. Fran has worked directly with Dr. Dick Schwartz, Dr. Frank Anderson, Susan McConnell (Somatic IFS), and Toni Herbine-Blank (Intimacy from the Inside Out). She will be supported by Michał Pasterski, a Level 3 trained, Certified IFS Practitioner and founder of Life Architect.
Three delicious, healthy and carefully prepared meals a day and 24-hour access to coffee, tea, lemonade and snacks, including traditional Balinese sweets and desserts. During the retreat, you will try the best dishes of Asian cuisine, especially those characteristic to Bali.
We invite you to opt-out of your busy, everyday life to rest, restore and heal. You will have an option to try traditional Indonesian massage. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the rice paddies. In the evening we will sit on comfortable couches and spend quality time together.
Reconnecting with your Self

Do you seek a life filled with more natural joy, authentic expression and personal and professional fulfilment?
Seekers for centuries have chosen to “retreat” to respond to the human need and desire for healing, meaning and connection.
One of the most important aspects of a successful healing process is being able to truly, deeply connect with our Self and our parts. And to stay connected internally until our parts release their burdens and transform.
The unburdening and healing of parts is possible when we have the right environment - a sacred space, spacious time and knowledgeable support and guidance.

Expert guidance, caring support, evidence-based somatic processes and a small, connected community - lead to a transformative healing and learning experience.
1. A healing space
It’s hard to deeply connect to your inner world in everyday life, with only a few short moments to look inside. And it’s difficult to hear what your parts have to say when there are numerous distractions.
What if you could leave the hustle and bustle of your daily life for one week? What if you could spend time in a remote destination, immersed in nature, with the time and attention to listen to your parts, to be with them and let them teach you what you need to know?

2. Expert guidance and evidence-based tools
As we know, if you stay in your head, the analytical managers run the show. As Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk teaches in “The Body Keeps the Score”, it is essential to include somatic practices if you want to facilitate deep healing and transformation in yourself and your clients.
During this retreat, you will receive expert guidance from two IFS leaders in exploring and practising somatic interventions. Discover and heal blocks to a deeper embodiment of the organic aliveness within, Self-energy. Leave with a greater sense of embodied Self-energy.
3. A circle of care and support
See yourself as a part of this small group… 16 like-minded humans who understand Self and parts, who have journeyed to a distant land to create space to hold their personal system and are willing to hold space for each other’s parts.
Like the nesting dolls, we will hold space for our inner system and we will hold space for those in our circle, building a field of inner and outer Self-energy for all.
All of this, and much more will be a part of our 8-day Somatic Parts Work Retreat in Bali. We will co-create a sacred space for exploring somatic modalities, experiencing deep insight and creating a vibrant circle of mental health professionals.

Who is this retreat for?
Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is a comprehensive integrative paradigm within which somatic practices naturally fit. This somatically focused retreat has as its foundation IFS and acquaintance with IFS is a prerequisite.
If you finished at least a 2-day introduction to IFS (or another online workshop or course), you are welcome to sign up. If you didn't do any IFS workshops yet, we will share a 12-day online course "Introduction to Internal Family Systems" with you, for free (created by Michael Pasterski). Going through this course will be enough in order to join this retreat.
This retreat is mainly for:
- IFS-informed therapists, practitioners and seekers,
- Mental health professionals who want to grow their skills and include Somatic IFS and other somatic techniques in their practice,
- Overwhelmed professionals who need to pause and take care of their own system in order to be able to better serve their clients,
- Curious practitioners who want to explore what our body can do, when we give it the space it needs to heal.

Why Bali?
Bali is our second home. We’ve been organizing transformational retreats on the “Island of Gods” since 2014. We have spent more than 2 years there.
Knowing Bali so well, we will provide you with a curated insider’s view, much more than “average travellers” can see during their journeys.
Bali has a long spiritual and cultural tradition. Its uniqueness is treasured and preserved by the Balinese. After you leave the tourist areas, you experience the authentic beauty of the people and their traditions.
There is stunning nature everywhere: green rice fields, coconut trees, palm trees, jungles, flowers and exotic plants. Bali is thriving with natural life and spiritual wisdom; you feel like your inner batteries are being charged during the entire time you are there.
The unique culture, the natural world bustling with life and rich spiritual traditions… all of these make this island an ideal spot for our retreat.
Trips and experiences
As part of the retreat package, we have put together some incredible experiences for you to enjoy. During the retreat, we will stay in the small town of Ubud, which is an artistic, spiritual and cultural centre of Bali. It's a place full of painters, healers, yoga teachers, traditional dance shows and authentic Balinese restaurants. A perfect starting point for some of the best experiences Bali has to offer, as well as for further explorations. Here are some of the scheduled experiences:
We will take a trek in the most beautiful Tegalalang rice terraces, where you'll see how rice is cultivated and experience the extraordinary tranquillity that is so characteristic of Bali's rural life.
To get to the best rated (according to TripAdvisor) spa in Ubud, we will take the famous ridge walk with amazing views over beautiful valleys. On the spot, there will be a full 1-hour Balinese massage at its finest awaiting us.
A professional sound healing session with Tibetan bowls and gongs inside the magic "Pyramids of Chi". A one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience altered states of consciousness and the process of releasing tensions and emotional blockage through the vibrations of these unique instruments.
We will visit the most interesting Balinese temple, which was built around a hot spring. We will have the possibility to take part in a traditional, cleansing ritual bath, which is an inherent part of the life of every Balinese.
Monkey Forest is a sanctuary and natural habitat of the Balinese long-tailed macaque. Set in a beautiful jungle, it's a perfect place to interact with Balinese fauna and flora.
We will visit the traditional, vibrant Ubud Market with silk scarves, lightweight shirts, wooden statues, handmade woven bags, baskets and many other handicrafts. Most of the goods found at this market are made by locals living in the neighbouring villages.
"A lot has happened for me during this retreat in Bali and if I were to say about what is here and now, I'm much more serene than before. This is not a "hooray" enthusiasm. It is a feeling of harmony." - Barbara

Somatic IFS and more
This retreat will offer the practices of Somatic IFS and other somatic interventions to heal parts that may be hidden from conscious awareness. Heal the body, Heal the Soul.
As Susan McConnell, the creator of Somatic IFS, says: "The unity of body and mind is more than a concept. It is a lived experience that transforms us and the culture as a whole."
During this retreat, Fran, who has trained with Susan McConnell, will offer explorations in Somatic IFS. There are 5 practices that lead to a greater Embodiment of Self-Energy:
- Somatic Awareness
- Conscious Breath
- Attuned Touch
- Mindful Movement
- Radical Resonance
Our explorations during this retreat will also include Somatic Experiencing, Focusing, Loch Kelly and Effortless Mindfulness, Michi Rose and Legacy Burdens, Breathwork and other somatic experiences.

Conscious Connected Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork will be an important part of the retreat. It's a powerful and safe way to get in touch with our inner body intelligence. It activates and facilitates the healing process by allowing our emotions to come to the surface.
CCB uses a core practice of conscious connected breathing. This causes shifts in our physiology and allows us to explore altered states of consciousness.
We will practice Conscious Connected Breathwork in a group setting, lying on the mats in a circle. The session will last for around an hour and your process will be fully supported by breathwork providers and retreat facilitators.
Pablo Castro
Pablo Castro will facilitate the CCB session. He is a Breathwork Practitioner and Trainer. His passion for the felt sense and water therapy is at the core of what he shares with one to one's and groups around the world. He's been a lead trainer with Alchemy of Breath for 4 years, and is based in Bali.

- Full board (3 meals a day)
- Coffee, tea, lemonade, water and snacks throughout the whole retreat, including traditional Balinese sweets and desserts

What is not included
- Airfares
- Individual/personal insurance
Why does the price of the retreat not include airfares? Because it is difficult to predict the cost of all flights, since participants come from all over the world. In addition to that, the airline ticket prices vary depending on the time of purchase, which will be different for each participant.
You don’t need to take any extra money with you, as you will be provided with everything (food, water, tourist attractions entrance tickets). However, you may take under consideration the possibility of buying souvenirs - Bali abounds in unique, local products.
Accommodation
Retreat participants will be accommodated in 2-person rooms. There is also one quad available, which is a larger room with a jacuzzi, wardrobe and a terrace with a view over the rice paddies. We will match your roommates taking into account first of all sex and age, but also personality traits and place of residence. If you have any needs in regard to this, please let us know. Couples (including married couples) are accommodated separately because we learned from previous retreats that sleeping in separate rooms has a very positive influence on the process that takes place during the retreat.
Retreat schedule
Day 1
The day of participants’ arrival and lodging at Villa Gaia (accommodation possible from 12 am). There are no workshop activities scheduled for that day. It’s time to rest after the journey. In the evening, around 8 pm, we meet for one hour to do a short team-building exercise and discuss organizational matters. Lunch is served at 2 pm, and dinner - is at 7 pm.
Those who come to Bali earlier need to arrange for accommodation and board on their own. You may stay at Villa Gaia, but you will need to arrange this on your own with the retreat centre based on availability.
Those arriving in Bali on Thursday will be provided with a free transfer from Denpasar Airport to the place of stay.
Day 2-7
6 days of the retreat.
Day 8
Last day of our stay at Villa Gaia. Check out and free transfer to Denpasar Airport. On that day, breakfast is provided and lunch is served at 1 pm. Afterwards, the entire group leaves the place of our stay.
Those who stay in Bali longer arrange for accommodation, board and airport transfers on their own (we offer full support by suggesting proven hotels and restaurants as well as contact numbers to reliable transport companies).

3-day Bali Experience

Why not stay a few days more and see the best of Bali?
We have spent on Bali more than 2 years in total and we know every corner of this island. That's why we offer you an additional 3-day package of authentic, Balinese experiences, with some of the most beautiful spots on the island. Our program is not a "cross out from the checklist as many sights as you can" type of thing - we will give you a slow travel experience, thanks to which you will be able to sink into the magic atmosphere of Bali.
This adventure will start the next day after the IFS Level in Bali ends and is dedicated only to the retreat's participants.
We will take care of everything - accommodation (we will stay in a different place each night), food, transportation and entrance tickets for all 3 days: the 6th, 7th and 8th of October.
Scroll down to see the program highlights and the package price (Somatic Parts Work Retreat in Bali + 3-day Bali Experience including accommodation and meals).
What will you experience?
During our first day, we will stay in Dasa Vayu Retreat Center, where we will meet Mangku Made Subur - a Balinese shaman who uses traditional purification ceremonies and herbal remedies as the healing arts of centuries-old Hinduism. Each one of us will get to speak to Mangku 1 on 1 and take part in a group healing ceremony. We will stay in simple, eco-friendly Balinese bamboo bungalows.
We will spend a day in Munduk, one of the most underrated places on the island, a Bali's best-kept secret. It's a quiet, cooler, green region, set in the mountains north of Bali. Here, we will get in touch with the unspoiled nature - trekking in the jungle (with easier and more challanging routes available), visiting beautiful waterfalls, visiting Balinese farms and rice terraces.
On the last day our our trip we will rest and relax on one of the less visited beaches to enjoy the warmth and peace of Balinese seaside. For those still hungry for new experiences, there will be snorkelling, with rich and colorful underwater world to explore.
