A Six-Month IFS-Guided Journey

This retreat is part of a six-month journey that begins before we gather in Brazil. Through three preparation circles and two integration circles, we use IFS therapy tools to connect with our parts, set meaningful intentions, and prepare for the medicine. After the retreat, these same practices support us in anchoring and integrating our experiences into lasting transformation.

“There have been no words to express the depth of gratitude I felt during the retreat and in my reflections since.”

Healing with Ayahuasca, the Indigenous way

Zrzut ekranu 2025-06-16 o 14.30.59

During this 8-day retreat in Brazil, we will embark on a guided journey of self-discovery with IFS & Ayahuasca in the heart of an Atlantic Rainforest, near Rio de Janeiro. Here, the Indigenous wisdom of Amazonian traditions meets the holistic, psychological approach of IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy).

We will aim towards a truly transformational experience that doesn’t just fade with time. Guided by the wisdom of Ayahuasca, we’ll learn to receive its gifts through an original Indigenous perspective, held within a safe and supportive container informed by Western psychotherapy. Rooted in IFS, this retreat offers trauma-informed spaceholding throughout the whole journey.

At the heart of this retreat are three sacred ceremonies rooted in the spiritual tradition of the Huni Kuin people – an Indigenous group from the Brazilian Amazon known for their deep connection to the forest and its plant teachers. Each ceremony will incorporate three Amazonian master plants: Ayahuasca, Rapé (sacred snuff), and Sananga (medicinal eye drops), used in alignment with the Huni Kuin’s ceremonial protocols and prayer songs.

The Huni Kuin, meaning “true people,” uphold an unbroken tradition of forest-guided healing. Through sacred chants, live music, and spiritual presence, they lead ceremonies that offer a profound journey and a rare opportunity to experience their medicine in its authentic Indigenous context.

Our retreat team includes eight facilitators (four in the Indigenous Committee and four in the Integration Team), maintaining a 1:3 facilitator-to-participant ratio. This group brings together licensed therapists, certified IFS practitioners, and Indigenous representatives of the Huni Kuin.

We are honored to welcome four ceremony leaders from Brazil as part of the Indigenous Committee: twin brothers Damião and Cosmo de Araujo Braz Kaxinawá, together with their wives. Damião and Cosmo are members of Aldeia Caucho, a Huni Kuî village located in Tarauacá, Acre, Brazil. They serve as cultural and spiritual leaders in their community, having studied ancestral healing traditions and ways of life with the elders of their village.

IFS-based Preparation

A unique perspective of this retreat lies in how we approach intention – not as a fixed outcome or a personal agenda to strive for, but as a process of connecting to our parts and listening to what needs to be attended to the most. The guidance offered by Ayahuasca can be profound, yet often communicated in a language that is symbolic, non-linear, and unfamiliar – making it challenging to fully interpret and integrate.

With thoughtful preparation and a clear, grounded intention — one that emerged from the shared agreement of our parts — this guidance usually unfolds into a lasting process of inner transformation.

Clarifying intention becomes a powerful anchor during ceremony, helping us stay connected to what truly matters. It also serves as a guiding thread throughout the entire journey – supporting us in both the preparation and integration phases.

sd

When a clear intention is set, Ayahuasca can guide us in softening the grip of protective manager parts, reconnecting with exiled parts of ourselves, and releasing the burdens that we were not able to release.

Entering an entheogenic journey without a clear intention can lead to a wide range of experiences – beautiful, unexpected, and at times, challenging. While this can still hold value, the absence of direction may make integration more difficult.

With enough support to ensure all parts are heard and aligned, and with a well-defined intention, the experience has the potential to become truly life-changing.

As part of the preparation phase before the retreat, you’ll receive guidance on how to approach this work using the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to create a safe and grounded foundation for your journey.

There have been no words to express the depth of gratitude I felt during the retreat and in my reflections since.

The transformative nature of the ceremonies, combined with the preparation beforehand, the integration days between ceremonies and the on-going personal integration work since returning has solidified in my system the need to continue to do this work, and work with medicine but particularly with and through an IFS approach. Thank you to the entire team who created a safe container to process and transform, the group who held space and the centre for providing beauty and comfort. If this is offered again, I will be the first to sign up!

The Sacred Pathways Retreat experience was incredible. It felt powerful and spacious, with time for connecting with our mini tribe and also time in silence to deepen and go inside.

It felt like an incredibly safe container for doing this beautiful work. It was clear there was so much love and care from the group leaders – before, during and now after the retreat as well. The combination of IFS and plant medicine teachers is life-changing for my system. So much gratitude for everything that was necessary to make this experience happen.

Sacred Pathways Retreat in Brazil, March 2025

My general experience during the retreat was very life confirming and re-igniting & connecting and I really feel I discovered new sides of myself and how I operate as a human being.

In general it was a safe environment, loving group of people, and smooth and delightful program, which had been thought through deeply. I also felt there where many positive surprises during the program, that I didn’t expect in advance. Furthermore I really feel I have some kind of clarity now, that I didn’t have before, and I’m so much more eased and gentle to myself now, than before. And I have a much better relationship with my parts.

This was my first experience, and overall, it was truly great.

I would absolutely do it again and wholeheartedly recommend it to others (if “ready”). I’m even more grateful now, because after returning, I looked into how other retreats are run, and it made me appreciate even more just how special this one was.

Aldeia Rizoma, Atlantic Forest, Brazil

Aldeia Rizoma is a 30-hectare ecological reserve set in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, about 20 minutes from the UNESCO-listed town of Paraty and midway between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Dense jungle, the Perequê-Açú River, and a network of forest trails create a quiet setting for deep work and reflection. Guests can explore natural pools and waterfalls, walk sheltered paths, or simply sit among trees that have stood for centuries.

mm

Forest Houses

Eight forest houses—designed by Atelier Marko Brajovic and inspired by Indigenous architecture—offer privacy and comfort while minimizing environmental impact. Each structure frames views of the surrounding canopy and serves as a quiet space for contemplation. On site you’ll also find a river-side sauna, an open-air jungle gym, meditation decks, a body-therapy room, and gathering spaces for group sessions. The overall design encourages a balance of immersion in nature and a sense of security and ease.

ccc

Ayuru, the ceremony space

At the heart of Aldeia Rizoma lies its main ceremonial space — a circular, open-air structure designed to hold group energy with focus and care. Built with natural materials and surrounded by the forest’s quiet presence, the space is both grounded and expansive. Here, the main ceremonies take place in close connection with the land, accompanied by the sounds of the jungle and the flowing river nearby. Whether in silence or in song, this sacred space offers a safe, held environment for deep inner journeys.

The retreat schedule

Each day during the retreat will be unique, with the three ayahuasca ceremonies led by the Indigenous committee at the core of our journey. Surrounding them are rituals and integration practices designed to deepen our inner work, support emotional processing, and help us stay connected—to ourselves, to each other, and to the transformation catalyzed by the medicine.

da

Integration Sessions

During the retreat, we’ll gather for integration circles guided by David Londoño, offering support before and after each ceremony. These sessions will explore how to prepare for the entheogenic journey, how to make sense of what emerges, and how to carry insights into daily life. David brings deep experience to this work—he has coordinated therapeutic teams in plant medicine centers and serves as an advisor at ICEERS, a nonprofit dedicated to psychedelic research and support.

dccv

IFS-guided Sharing Circles

Before and after each ceremony we will also come together in sharing circles guided by the principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS). These spaces offer a grounded container for integrating our experiences, connecting with the different parts of ourselves, and being witnessed in a supportive group. All of the sharing circles will be facilitated by Gabriella Csanádi and Michał Pasterski, Level 3 trained IFS practitioners.

bb

Ritual Work

We’ll engage in ceremonial and ritualistic practices rooted in indigenous wisdom traditions of the Huni Kuin tribe. Practices like herbal baths and Rapé ceremonies guided by our Indigenous committee, will help us anchor our intentions, connect with the land, honor Mother Nature, and partake in activities that symbolize transformation and renewal.

Zrzut ekranu 2025-06-16 o 14.30.59

Nature Immersion

During the retreat, we’ll immerse ourselves in the natural surroundings of the Atlantic Forest through walking along forest paths, time spent by the river and enjoying the nearby waterfall. The environment invites moments of stillness, connection, and reflection—supporting our inner process through direct contact with nature. Optional activities like river bathing or guided jungle trek will also be available.

3

Holding Space Practice

Using IFS, we’ll deepen the connection with our parts and share our experiences using the Holding Space Practice (done in pairs). Embracing the wisdom of indigenous traditions, we recognize that healing often happens in the community. Together, we’ll grow into a tribe, helping each other through our journeys. The Holding Space Practice is a way to deepen our process during the preparation phase, as well as during and after the retreat.

Bez nazwy-1

Movement and Bodywork

We’ll practice movement with an emphasis on body awareness, such as Qigong, to connect with ourselves and release stored emotions. We’ll also participate in guided silent forest walks and gentle movement to live music. Optional therapeutic massage and bodywork will be available for relaxation.

Therapeutic Massage

Touch has the power to ground us, soften tension, and support the integration of deep inner work. During the retreat, you’ll have the option to receive therapeutic massage or bodywork from skilled practitioners attuned to the unique needs of this journey. These sessions offer space for the body to unwind, emotions to settle, and insights to gently land. Whether you seek restoration or simply a quiet moment of care, massage can be a nourishing complement to your unfolding process.

1:1 Indigenous Cleansing Ritual

This individual ritual, offered by a member of the Huni Kuin ceremonial team, is a deeply personal experience of energetic cleansing and spiritual recalibration. Using sacred tools such as feathers, chants, prayers, and forest medicines, this one-on-one encounter clears stagnant energies and helps realign your connection with spirit and self. Each ritual is unique—guided by the intuition and ancestral knowledge of the healer—and offers a profound sense of purification, grounding, and renewal.

It felt like an incredibly safe container for doing this beautiful work. It was clear there was so much love and care from the group leaders – before, during and now after the retreat as well.

We begin with spacious time to rest and unwind by the ocean — swim, walk the beach, or simply enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the sea. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Paraty’s historic center on a guided tour, where colonial charm meets vibrant culture. There’s also a chance to savor a local culinary experience. Move at your own pace — exploring, connecting, or simply being. This first day offers a gentle landing into the Spirit of Brazil.

Day 2: Afro-Brazilian Legacy: Resilience and Rhythm

We’ll delve into Afro-Brazilian culture by visiting a Quilombola community, descendants of enslaved Africans who escaped and formed their own free communities. We’ll learn about their history and take part in a Jongo workshop, a traditional dance that serves both as a form of spiritual cleansing and a symbol of resistance. You’ll have time to relax and reflect, whether by taking a quiet walk or simply enjoying the rhythm and energy of the community at your own pace.

Day 3: Islands & Ocean Horizons

We set out by boat to explore the tropical islands in the Bay of Paraty – an area known for its emerald waters, lush greenery, and hidden coves. The day invites us to swim, snorkel, and soak in the natural beauty of the coast. With gentle waves and breathtaking views, we let the ocean carry us into ease and presence. This experience brings together the elements—water, sun, and community—offering a beautiful end to our journey.
