Polarizations in IFS Therapy

Two things block Self-energy, parts and polarized parts.
A requisite skill in IFS is awareness and competence in depolarizing parts. One of the beautiful things about IFS is that it is organic, meaning that it keeps growing and deepening in our systems.

We will be focusing on polarizations on all systems levels to increase understanding of how internal conflicts are reflected in the larger world and how learning to work with polarized parts is also a way to help de-polarize the world.

Explore the Creation and Impact of Polarizations

During this workshop we will deepen our understanding of how polarizations are created, become more extreme, and their function in outer and inner systems.

A developmental model will be presented to understand polarizations as a backlash to growth and change, evolution, and moral development. We will explore polarizations that are legacy burdens: How we’ve internalized our parents’ polarization, and how to identify these patterns and unburden them.

  • Learn the systemic nature of polarizations and the cycles that intensify them.
  • Add new tools to your IFS toolbox.
  • Expand de-polarizing skills to work with larger systems.

An essential skill of an IFS therapist

Thinking systemically and becoming comfortable with working with more than one part is an essential skill of an IFS therapist.

During this workshop, we will explore how fear is the base emotion of polarized parts and how becoming an Ambassador involves developing strategies that work to de-polarize and help restore harmony and balance in a system.

Extreme polarizations in the clients’ system

We will also delve into the role of therapist parts when working with polarizations. Sometimes, these parts feel an urgent need to resolve polarities in the client’s system. We will explore and understand the IFS perspective on addictive and compulsive behaviors as extreme polarizations.

Come and join us for 2 days of growing and strengthening your ability to identify and work with polarizations.
