Get to know your inner family

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is one of the fastest-growing psychotherapeutic models in the world, offering a clear, non-pathological and empowering understanding of human cognitive and emotional life.

IFS provides a dynamic therapeutic approach that allows both the therapist and the client to enter into a transformative relationship, in which even the most wounded parts of personality can be healed.

Richard C. Schwartz, the founder of IFS therapy, has been developing the IFS model for over 30 years. IFS is now practiced by thousands of licensed therapists and other health care specialists around the world. It is a transparent yet sophisticated approach integrating psychology and spirituality, as well as intrapsychic theory and family systems theory.

IFS Therapy:

works well with individual adults, couples, families, groups and children;

proves to be effective in treating trauma;

is a client-led approach to therapeutic work that respects each client’s pace and goals fully;

establishes a productive, trusting, and collaborative partnership between therapist and client;

helps the therapist/counselor to stay centered and open-hearted.

Why IFS?

IFS therapy stands out from traditional approaches to psychotherapy, as it uses parts work in a particularly complex way.

IFS teaches us how to start a dialogue with our internal sub-personalities and build a relationship with them. It shows how to enter a state of mind, in which we no longer identify with any part.

It allows us to quickly reach the source of our problems, the most wounded nooks and crannies of our psyche and, most importantly, heal these wounds and release emotional burdens that have been carried for a long time.

In addition, IFS is an effective self-therapy method. Parts work is an inseparable element of learning this model.

Therefore, by enrolling in this training you make the best choice not only for your professional development but also for your personal and spiritual growth.

Training programme

In addition to offering a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of IFS therapy, this training invites participants to explore their own inner worlds within a training’s safe, nurturing space.

As a participant in these trainings you will:

  • understand the conceptual basis of the IFS model;
  • learn how to apply IFS techniques in your individual work with the client;
  • make use of the IFS model and the possibilities it gives in self-therapy.

Training format

This IFS Level 1 Training Online will take place on the Zoom software. There is no need to install the software on your laptop, but it is recommended.

The practice groups will be run with a “breakout room” functionality within Zoom, which allows groups to have private sessions and lets the trainer join particular rooms if needed.

Each participant will join with their video and audio on, being able to ask questions, discuss with other participants, share screen, etc.

Communication during the training

During the training, we create a WhatsApp group where ongoing communication takes place between the trainer, program assistants (PA), and participants.

While joining the group isn’t mandatory, as all essential information is sent via email, we highly encourage you to join. This group serves as a valuable social platform fostering interaction, support, and collaboration among participants throughout the training journey.

The entire training comprises 112 hours (including 84 program hours and 28 hours of breaks).

Participants must be present for at least 70 program hours to receive the training completion certificate.

The exact duration of the training is given in the registration section.

Before the training, we will send you a training manual by traditional post.

This IFS Level 1 Training Online includes lectures, large and small group discussions, live and video demonstrations of the therapeutic process, and small group practice sessions (each group is always attended by an experienced program assistant).

Admission criteria

First, we invite:

  • Therapists,
  • Psychologists,
  • Psychiatrists.

People who perform the indicated professions and conduct individual and/or group practice with clients have priority in recruitment. That said, we allow representatives of other careers, such as coaches, researchers, and teachers, to participate in the training.

In all contexts of supporting others, having the skills and knowledge offered in the IFS Training will allow you to help other people look deep inside themselves and see their personality in a completely new way.

All residents of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico who apply to Level 1 Trainings organized by IFS Institute or by IFS Institute’s International Partners must adhere to the revised Admissions policy. If you are applying to an International Partner training and you are from a country other than the U.S., Canada, or Mexico, then Admissions criteria remain unchanged.

This means that people who are not designated as therapists and who are not from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico may continue to apply for international trainings, as long as they can demonstrate a professional scope of practice for the use of the IFS Model.

Please note that acceptance into training does not mean a participant will meet the requirements for IFS Certification, which can be found here IFS Certification | IFS Institute (ifs-institute.com). If your goal is to become IFS Certified as a Therapist or a Practitioner, it is your responsibility to review the IFS Certification policy and FAQs to determine if you have the necessary qualifications.

Completion of the IFS Level 1 Training will allow you to:

  • Refer to yourself as IFS Trained,
  • Apply to IFS Level 2 Trainings,
  • Work towards IFS Certification,
  • Be listed in the IFS Institute Directory.
