Identify the impact legacy has on your system, life and wellbeing
As our work with our own system deepens, we become aware of the intricate burdens our parts hold. The more we practice IFS inside and out, the more familiar we become with the cultural, ethnic, or transgenerational burdens we are carrying.
This two-day workshop will invite you to identify the impact legacy has on your system, on your life and on your wellbeing.
In this unique setting, you will identify parts that carry legacy influences, identify the heirlooms in the legacy that can be embraced, and experience and practice the legacy healing and unburdening process that is so unique to the IFS model.
The personal work
The personal work you as a therapist are doing, will create ripples of healing. In this workshop you will be able to find the trailheads to your own work on legacy burden and heirloom and put into practice and refine your skills of the legacy burden process of the IFS protocol.
Bearing witness to the burdens of your ecosystem is precious and significant. Knowing those burdens you are carrying did not begin with you, is powerfully meaningful. Understanding that those burdens were passed down the ancestral lines, and may have run through many generations, or may have been absorbed from the greater culture, a subculture, a specific group association, or the ethnicity, is the key to a healing process. It did not begin with you but it can heal here and now.
Learning objectives
The training covers almost 4 instructional hours.
By the end of this workshop participants will:
- Gain knowledge on IFS’s perspective on legacy burdens and heirlooms,
- Deepen the understanding of the nature of burdens and differentiate legacy burdens from personal burdens,
- Gain awareness of own parts in their system holding legacy burdens and heirlooms,
- Gain awareness of different polarization related to legacy burdens and heirlooms which activate the entire system,
- Practice the skills of the legacy unburdening and heirloom embracing process,
- Explore ways legacy burdens unburdening contribute to the overall healing of the system.
What you will get to know
Participants will be noticing, validating, getting to know, befriending and bringing healing to:
- Trailheads to Legacy Burdens - implicit or explicit biases and isms we grew up with: racism, ethnocentrism, sexism, genderism, heterosexism (homophobia), ageism, classism, patriotism, ableism, individualism, patriarchy, religious prejudice, etc.,
- The micro system that is arranged around Legacy Burdens,
- The various protectors holding aspects of the Legacy Burdens,
- Polarizations around the Legacy Burdens,
- Protective system’s fears around releasing Legacy Burdens,
- Exile/s holding aspects of the Legacy Burdens,
- Heirlooms related to the legacy,
- Healing process of unburdening the Legacy Burdens.

Workshop recording
The workshop was held live on March 2021.
The whole process has been structured so that you can go through it at any time, at your own pace. In total, almost 4 hours of video material - it's important that you find the right space for yourself to immerse yourself in this process.
The recording contain didactics, meditations and practice instructions so you will be able to do personal work in your own time. Please note that the practice groups sessions, live demos and the group sharings were not recorded.
Remember that you get unlimited access to the course recordings, which means you will be able to view them in a year or even in a few years.
Instructional Methodology

With full time online access to the recordings you will have an opportunity to practice the work internally and build your skills any time you want.
Meet the trainer
Osnat Arbel, PhD
Osnat (Ossi) Arbel, PhD, LMFT is a Certified IFS Therapist and International Lead Trainer. She actively trains, supervises, and facilitates Level 1 and Level 2 IFS trainings. She is the Co-founder of the Israeli Institute for IFS (www.ifs-israel.org).
Dr. Arbel is a seasoned therapist with nearly 30 years of experience. She is an AAMFT Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor and has taught and supervised IFS-informed MFT courses in academia. Dr. Arbel provides IFS-based therapy for individuals, couples, and families, living the IFS model both personally and professionally.
In her personal life Ossi is a mother of two adult children and a forever puppy. She is a full-distance triathlon finisher (Ironman) and a marathoner. She brings insights from her athletic life into her personal and professional life, and vice versa.
Her favorite quote is by Avraham Halfi: "Paths have no eyes to see how deep their travelers’ dreams are…"

Prerequisites
To participate in this workshop it is required that:
- You have completed at least Level 1 of IFS training or the IFSI Online Circle – no basic IFS didactics will be offered,
- You are an IFS therapist or practitioner who works or will be working with clients,
- You have a desire to embody the IFS Model – deepen the knowledge of your own system to assist your clients in doing so, and learn tools that will aid in the process.
