During this retreat, you’ll immerse yourself in its vibrant culture and discover breathtaking vistas, from rolling hills blanketed in vineyards to historic villages brimming with character, fostering a deep connection with the beauty of the Italian countryside.

Inner journey
This retreat is a process of insight and inner transformation, with the Internal Family Systems model serving as its guiding framework. Our program is a unique combination of daily teaching and guided experiential processes, somatic embodiment practices (movement, dance, breathwork, sound bath), local excursions (hot springs, visit to a nearby town), and unscheduled integration time.

Unique venue
ASHA is a serene retreat center in Southern Tuscany, spanning 15 hectares of untouched land amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. It offers a beautiful, safe space for inner work and outer play. With cozy accommodations, yoga shalas, healing spaces, and a pool thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the landscape, guests can unwind and reconnect. Nourishing plant-based cuisine further fosters balance and renewal in this tranquil haven.

Small group
Our small group retreat experience fosters intimacy and meaningful connections, enabling more personalized and resonant interactions. This setting ensures every voice is heard, promoting a sense of belonging and mutual support, ideal for personal growth and fostering empathy among participants.

Post-retreat support: Following the retreat, you’ll be invited to two group Zoom integration circles—held one month and two months after the retreat—to help you deepen and integrate your experience.

A balanced program
This retreat is a time for deep insight and inner work, as well as a time for rest, restoration and healing. You will take a deep break from your busy life – this will be time only for YOU. You will have the chance to book a massage, enjoy outdoor pool, rest on a hammock, go for a relaxing walk in nature and witness breathtaking views.
This was my first retreat and, in every way, it exceeded my expectations. From inquiry and registration to group sessions and excursions, I felt incredibly heard, cared for, and nurtured. The location was beautiful and the staffing so attentive.

A Sanctuary for Healing
Being human means navigating a landscape of pain, loss, and grief. At times, both we and our clients may feel profoundly misunderstood, unseen, or unvalued, leading to moments of deep aloneness. These emotional experiences, though universal, can overwhelm us. Often, even the well-meaning support from loved ones may not address the core of our healing needs.
This retreat offers a sanctuary—a place to pause, reflect, and deepen your capacity to attune to both your own inner parts and the inner systems of your clients.
Through teachings and guided experiential practices, you will embark on a journey of “being with” the parts of your inner system that need it most. Using the transformative lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS), we will:
- Explore and attend to the protective systems that shield us and our clients.
- Navigate the complex emotions held by vulnerable parts.
- Delve into the impact of legacy burdens—historical, familial, and cultural—that impact our capacity to be with them.

What You Will Learn?
In this retreat, you’ll develop advanced skills to work with protectors, cultivate a healing space for exiles, and expand your ability to bring compassionate presence to pain and loss. By focusing on our personal vulnerable parts, you will naturally build the capacity to extend healing energy to your clients, loved ones, and communities. Together, we will co-create a transformative space for repair and renewal. Here are some of the key takeaways:
You will Deepen Understanding of Inner Systems through:
- Exploring the parts of yourself that seek to avoid pain, loss, and grief.
- Identifying protective parts that resist vulnerability.
You will Expand your Healing Skills through:
- Learning tools for negotiating with protective systems.
- Accessing Self-energy during times of overwhelm.
- Differentiating burdens that can be released from experiences that need to be witnessed.
You will Cultivate a Healing Practice through:
- Reflecting on cultural narratives that avoid engagement with pain and loss.
- Applying IFS’s “healing steps” protocol for navigating pain and grief.
You will Integrate Personal and Professional Growth through:
- Practicing advanced techniques for creating inner healing spaces.
- Enhancing your ability to support others by working with your own system.

During this retreat…
After organizing and facilitating more than 30 retreats, we know how to design an experience that will have a lasting impact on you. During this retreat you will:
- You will be guided by an IFS Lead Trainer Jory Agate, LMHC, MDiV, MA.
- You will join healers and seekers from all over the world equally as passionate about IFS therapy and inner healing.
- You will experience multiple ways of discovering and exploring your internal system – IFS therapy, breathwork, small group exercises, dance/movement, sound bath, and more.
- You will acquire new therapy tools and skills; you will return to life and work embodying more Self-energy.
- You will enjoy a variety of unique excursions and local experiences as a part of the retreat package: a drum circle, enjoying hot springs, visiting a nearby town, eating at a local restaurant, sound healing and more.
- Additional optional excursions will be available, such as visiting a winery with wine tasting or going to a seaside.
- You will be immersed in beauty and nature, interact with like-minded mental health professionals and enjoy healthy whole food.
- You will unplug, relax, laugh and play, charging your body’s internal batteries.
- You will experience the magic of retreat: simple living, daily spiritual practices, guided meditations and teaching, periods of silence, gentle movement and facilitated Breathwork.

All of this, and much more will be a part of our 7-day Being With: An IFS Journey Retreat in Italy. We will co-create a safe space for exploring our parts with a support of an experienced guide.

Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is designed for professionals familiar with Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) who wish to deepen their personal and professional practice.
Completion of at least an introductory IFS workshop or course is a prerequisite. If you didn’t do any IFS workshops yet, we will share a 12-day online course “Introduction to Internal Family Systems” with you, for free (created by Michael Pasterski). Going through this course will provide you with a base of knowledge to join this retreat.
This retreat is mainly for:
- Mental health professionals, therapists, clergy, bodyworkers, educators, and others integrating IFS into their work.
- Practitioners willing to explore their own systems and vulnerabilities to enhance their capacity to support clients.

Trips & Experiences
As part of the retreat package, we have put together some incredible experiences for you to enjoy. During the retreat, we will stay in the heart of Tuscany, a region celebrated for its rolling hills, picturesque vineyards, and charming medieval towns.
Here are some of the scheduled experiences:

A Trip to Pitigliano
Pitigliano, known for its striking location atop cliffs and its blend of medieval and Jewish heritage, is a fascinating destination. During this visit, there will be time to wander the narrow streets, take in the architectural details, and reflect on the town’s unique history and character.

Hot Springs
The natural hot springs in Tuscany provide an opportunity to unwind in warm, mineral-rich waters while surrounded by the region’s characteristic countryside. This quiet and restorative experience offers a chance to relax both body and mind in a natural setting.

Visiting a Local Restaurant
A visit to a local Italian restaurant highlights the flavors of Tuscany, where fresh, seasonal ingredients are central to traditional dishes. The meal will be a chance to enjoy the simplicity and richness of regional cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

Nature Walk
A walk through the Tuscan landscape offers an opportunity to connect with the region’s natural beauty. Rolling hills, olive groves, and shaded paths create a peaceful backdrop for an easy-paced exploration of the area’s flora and terrain.

Drum Circle
The drum circle provides a shared experience of rhythm and sound in a welcoming, collaborative setting. Participants are invited to engage at their own pace, exploring how movement and music create a sense of community and expression.

Gong Bath
The gong bath is a sound-based meditation where the vibrations of the gongs create an immersive and calming atmosphere. This session offers a chance to relax deeply, with the resonant tones often evoking a sense of balance and inner stillness.

Silent Afternoon
An afternoon of silence provides space for quiet reflection and self-awareness. Without the distractions of technology, music, conversation or external noise, participants can deepen their inner processes by attending to what is bubbling up and wanting to become known and seen.
Techniques & Modalities

Learning Objectives
Our goal is that by the end of the retreat you are able to:
1. Understand and Explore Inner Systems:
- Identify and differentiate protective parts and their desire to protect us from pain, grief and vulnerability.
- Differentiate protective parts from the exiles they are protecting.
2. Develop Advanced Healing Techniques:
- Apply negotiation tools with protective systems to facilitate healing.
- Access and maintain Self-energy through the healing steps.
- Distinguish between burdens that can be released and experiences requiring deeper witnessing.
3. Integrate IFS into Personal and Professional Practice:
- Practice advanced methods to create inner healing spaces and support system-wide integration.
- Enhance the ability to extend compassion and healing energy to clients by first addressing personal vulnerabilities.
4. Expand Emotional and Cultural Awareness:
- Reflect on cultural narratives that hinder engagement with pain and loss.
- Apply the IFS “healing steps” to address both personal and cultural legacy burdens effectively.

Experiential Learning Approach
This retreat will immerse you in dynamic learning experiences, including:
- Guided meditations to access and connect with inner parts.
- Small and large group activities to foster community and shared insights.
- Dedicated time to process insights with peers.
- Didactic presentations to deepen theoretical understanding.
- Role-playing exercises and video demonstrations for skill-building.

Conscious Connected Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork will be an essential part of this retreat. It’s a powerful and safe way to get in touch with our inner body intelligence. It activates and facilitates the healing process by calming the thinking / rational mind (our protector parts) and allowing for our emotions to surface.
With guided support, allowing emotions and other experiences of mind and body can be highly transformative. The practice of connected breathing causes shifts in our physiology and will enable us to explore altered states of consciousness.
We will practice Conscious Connected Breathwork in a group setting, lying on comfortable mattresses. Your process will last for around 90-120 minutes and will be fully guided by a certified breathwork facilitator.
The essence of this practice may be different to each group member. For some it will be the integration of previous experiences and closure, for others it may be deepening of the work done during the retreat, or experiencing embodied connection to heart and Self.

Experiential activities
And there is more. We will move our bodies and bring them the experiences they need the most. Here is a complete list of activities we will give space to during these 7 days:
- IFS workshops, demonstrations and sharing circles
- Guided experiential exercises and small groups
- Conscious Connected Breathwork session
- Morning movement
- Dancing
- Drawing and journaling
- Sound healing with Tibetan gongs
- Time in nature
- Silence practice
- Mindful eating
- Connections, relaxation, rest, play, fun
